I found this awesome sim, Imagination by ARNICAR India. It's a beautiful place with a lot of pose and animation spots that are great for photos, dates. My friend Jasper joined me and I took pics of the sim so you can get an idea. Don't miss the sail boat raft bed in the watery tree tunnel, descend into the water near the tree and find another special place, click on things to get the poses and use windlights, as they work great in here.

"Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will." George Bernard Shaw
My friend Mishey Mactavish made this super cool high quality space skybox. Then she held a Lost in Space white party in it Saturday and a bunch of fun people showed up for it, so I took a few pics and figured it was well worth blogging here. Check it out on Marketplace at the link above.
Pixels Sideways told me about a cool builder's challenge event that had been going on that is also for a good cause. I was able to run over Saturday to have a look. Pixels told me about the floatilla of boats created for a boat building challenge on the Dreams sims. The floatilla event took place Saturday with awards presented Sunday. The Dreams sims are home to the Dreams Travelers, one of the oldest groups in SL -- founded in 2005. They offer building classes, sandboxes and also fun build challenges. They are also associated with ShockProof (stroke survivors) and Brigadoon Explorers (Aspergers/autism) and a group for ADD. I stopped in for a look, watched Piexels and some others get some of the boats out and observed many unique and fun boats.
THE CHALLENGE: Build a boat that will work. This does not have to be a traditional boat, but it needs to hold people and work like a boat. The task was to build a 30 prim boat with a few other rules.
Also, the group seems to have some great ideas and supports education and other good causes. Here is a little more info about the group overall that I grabbed from their note card:
"WELCOME TO DREAMS AND THE DREAM TRAVELERS COMMUNITY
Dreams was started in Luo in July of 2005, after having a home for a number of months in Manua.
The Sojourner (Soj) , Rick Kent, Amalthea Blanc and a few others started Dreams in Luo to accomplish a number of dreams:
1. To provide a base for creative interaction among people in SL.
2. To provide an area for teaching, holding discussions, and holding events.
3. To provide a support base for people who encounter strokes (brain attacks) in their own lives or in the lives of their loved ones.
Not everyone dreams the same. Some people need a bit of isolation, others need to play off of each other. Dreams is here to provide that variety. Most of all, it is here to provide support, learning, and fun.
The Dream Travelers are the dreaming force on this land. They are Seekers, Spinners, and Weavers. They are Travelers and even when they dont carry the distinction over their heads, they will shift and turn as the mists of dreams do. Things that are attempted but don't work out are the stuff of new dreams. But, oh, when they do reach fruition, what a wonderful time it is!!
The most important thing here is to find a way to take what is in each one of us and to explore it.. turning it inside out and back again... and then to pursue something that we have thought to be beyond us, having a place among friends to do that.
Dreams is also the activity base for , a group of stroke-survivors, family members, and others interested in stroke/brain attacks.
In addition, we host the Brigadoon Explorers who are individuals who have or are interested in Asperger Syndrome and autism.
Contact Ariel Miranda to find out about the weekly meetings (Wednesdays at 5 pm PST).
Our newest group, the ADD/ADHD Support Group 2.0 are for those who have or are interested in ADD/ADHD. They meet twice weekly' 1 pm on Mondays and 6 pm on Tuesdays. For more information contact Sophia Krell or Aerial Karu.
EDUCATION AT DREAMS
Education is a strong part of Dreams. Learning happens in a variety of ways, which aids learners of all types.
Formal classes given by teachers with different styles cover topics like simple build projects to scripting to building techniques to creating your own textures or avatars.
Informal learning happens in the sandbox or after class as people ask questions and get answers about topics related to the Second Life experience or just life in general.
Discussions and support groups help participants gain a better understanding of themselves or others, as well as get support from other people who may be going through similar situations.
Learning is an important part of improving ourselves, regardless of where we're starting out. Some may be recovering from strokes or other brain injuries, finding that the challenges of Second Life help them regain functioning plus new skills. Others may be homebound or in search of new outlets. Learning Second Life, building, scripting or other things broadens horizons.
What will YOU learn?
For more information on Dreams, please contact Golda Stein or Dorie Bernstein."
Next month they have another challenge:
DREAMS BUILDING COMPETITION
Octopus’s Garden was the second song ever written by Ringo Starr. He got the idea when he was on a boat and the boat’s captain told Starr that octopuses travel along the sea bed picking up stones and shiny objects which to build gardens. Use this as a spring board to build your imaginative undersea garden.
As with our garden build, this month’s contest is going to be viewed from the inside of the build. The building sites are connected with a path so guests can walk, or swim from one garden into the next by predetermined walkways.
Hints for building underwater: The easiest way is to go into the advance menu, then Rendering Types, Water, and uncheck it. There is still fog, so go to Rendering Features and Fog and uncheck it. Remember to look at your build with both of those checked before considering the build is finished.
Use a lot of phantom (object tab of edit). Swimming around a build and getting hung up on fish or plants detracts from the enjoyment of your build.
Snorkel gear and swim hud will be available at the entrance to the gardens. Please remember that this is a general sim and bikinis are not permitted.
THE CHALLENGE: To design and build an underwater garden.

Let me point out My.Secondlife.com as I think many people are not utilizing this SL feature enough and I really enjoy it. To see my profile feed there, check it out here: https://my.secondlife.com/kara.trapdoor
This can in part be viewed from each persons inworld profile when you click the "web" tab at the top in Firestorm. You can even manage it to an extent from inworld, but it's best to get in there from the site, adjust your profile and preferences for it, and use it to it's fullest there.
I like to see what people are saying, as you can post little bits of info., and comment on other's from in there similar to a Twitter stream. Sometimes there is late breaking news about SL, LL, sims, events, sales, etc, that seem to circulate in there first. I also like to see photos people post from inworld and you can adjust things so it automatically also gives the direct link and name of a sim, so if you like to explore this is great too. You can also send public or private messages to people from there. This can be nice if you can't get into SL some places or times, or if messages cap, or if you want to save messages to reply later, etc.
The reason I'm blogging it is that I notice some people use it a LOT and other don't use it at all, and I'm wondering if that is because some people are not fully aware of it's advantages. So, I'm just saying, it's pretty cool.

Diesel Works has this cool serpent pose prop at Collabor88 this month that I ran over and picked up when they opened and have put off making pics with it for a while due to other distractions, but last night I finally checked it all out and put on my Fallen Gods "Scales" skin and fun Boon "PAP584" hair. Wow.. the serpent is way cool. It comes as a hud you wear then click the button and the full version I got rezzes out one of 10 different snakes that all come with 3 color/style change options and its all adjustable too. Way fun.

I was out exploring last night and found this great sim: Carpe Diem Surf : Surf Hike Photograph the Natural Beauty. (I guess that is it's full name) by: Valium Lavender. The sim info. states: "Membership in this group will provide timely info to you regarding events at Valica Coffee House; Carpe Diem Surf sim and the new Carpe Diem Surf Two sim. You can surf here or blog; take photos; chillax; romance; hike;enjoy a soak in the hot tub-:)You do NOT have to be a group member to have fun here. However membership does have its benefits and cost is 1x fee of $500. Everyone has full rezz rights with a 1 hour auto-return." The sim offers surfing for fun or scheduled competitions. My friend Jack Parkin joined me for some pictures. Be sure to explore the gorgeous beach area, ride the toy rocket and use the different animations, surf for free, visit the coffee shop on the hill, tour the lighthouse, and jump on all the pose balls, props and play things.
Pink Lady Dancers a video by Kara 2 on Flickr.
( Have a quick look at the short bit of footage I took and keep in mind I added a royalty free song but their music was dance appropriate such as when the skeletons came out "Bad to the Bone" played, etc.)]
I happened upon a variety show in Second Life at Blue Lagoon Ranch yesterday and the notice said there would be 8 different SL dance troupes performing. When I landed I noticed there was an area set up of various sets/stages and in one of them there was a dance group performing, but soon they ended and the audience moved on to the next set where The Pink Lady Dancers began a routine. I found it somewhat unique as their stage was set in black and their costumes were bright glowing fluorescent. Soon I realized this would look good on video so flipped on my fraps to record a little. Since I was not really prepared for that I only captured a little, not even sure what I'd do with it, but I thoroughly enjoyed this new effect. After their routines the audience again moved on to another set and another group of dancers. I touched base with ZhaZa Zerbino of the Pink Lady Dancers to inquire a bit more about them. She advised me they have a web site, see here: http://pinkladydancers.webs.com/ and from this I gathered more information about their group and the variety shows and also determined that this was her sim and set up that they promote the variety shows on that other dance troupes or performers can also perform at. I thought this was a great idea. Groups or individuals can get involved and do a few dances or a show in a venue where they have a good appreciative audience, other dancers in attendance, and see what others are doing. They did have a great crowd the entire time I was there, yet I noticed no lag at all.
The next variety show is scheduled for Sept 21st. Check out their web site for all the details. If you are a part of a dance troupe or performer that is interested in performing check it out too. Here is a tiny excerpt of their information about it from their site that has a lot of good information about them as well as the venue and their variety shows: "Variety ShowsWhat's it all about? You are a dancer or Variety artist who would like to show your performance on stage? Well, then you are here at the right place!! It can be; *A solo dance act
*A Dance Group performance * Live performance *Some act you would like to show others(can be anything) It has to be on stage and you have to entertain the audience. Are you interested or want some more information, feel free to contact me. If you like to join our variety shows, please send us a message. Or contact Zhaza Zerbino inworld.
I found this interesting so ran over for a sneak peek. There will be a grand opening event today 8-17-13 from 1pm SLT to 3pm at ByrneDarkly's Tart Gallery. I took a few pics so you can get an idea of the works.
When I saw Berry's meme was about inventory and this recent kick everyone is on to minimalism or at least cleaning out inventory (yeah yeah I know it's good for everyone if we keep them clean) I sort of froze up a little and for the first time felt like I should not admit how big my inventory is. I HATE to waste my SL time cleaning it, therefore I have demos, notecards from forever ago, old dead landmarks in multiple copies, etc. Grrrrrr. So as I look down at my inventory is says 642 hehe.. it's still loading. I'll copy Berry's meme questions over here while I wait for the load. Hers is here: http://strawberrysingh.com/2013/08/11/inventory-meme-liquid-mesh/#commentlist
"Meme Instructions: Copy and paste the questions and answers below, delete my answers and input your own. Don’t forget to leave a comment with your link so I can come by and read it!
What is your current inventory number?
If you had to delete your whole inventory and could only keep one thing, what would it be?
What is the last thing you purchased?
Which item do you wear most often?
When you search for the word penis, how many items pop up?"
Ok, so the first thing that crosses my mind is on #5 like ummm imagining a male blogger reading this and they begin thinking about Berry searching for penis'... NOW how many penis' are popping up in their inventory AND RL??? Does that make me a bad person?
So she said no lying.. here we go:
1. Looks down.... still loading
2. OMG!.. You seriously can ask a SL hoarder that question? Pass.. Ok, I'll try.. um... hmm. I really thought about this. There are many things I like so much better than others, but I can't even think of one thing that totally stands out as a must have. I like a lot and many things not so much (those are probably the things I should ditch asap.. prob wont happen though.) I don't really have good folders made up, so I can't cheat on my blog like Berry did on her own saying she'd keep her hair folder. (JK Berry, it's your meme.... you can cheat all you want ~grins~)
So then just off the top of my head hmm still can't think of something extra special. I LOVE a lot, I like a lot, and I also dislike a lot in there. I have to say I really like my "It's A Trap" t-shirt, although it's not even mesh and I've had it forever, but the maker gave me full perms when they stopped selling them and allows me to give them away to friends or do what I want with them, so it's sorta special to me. (If anyone wants one just ding me inworld and let me know) So I'll choose that. I was thrilled when Molokai (seiki.amaterasu) of PoisonApple gave it to me that way.
Trap shirt works for male or female and is mod, so can adjust the waist and sleeve lengths etc., and no I don't have on my normal skin in this pic, that I talk about here.
After I decided on this shirt then a friend got back with me that I had IM'd asking that question of them earlier when I first started typing here, since I really couldn't think of anything uber special initially, just to sort of see what others think, and they said.... a pic they have of them and their partner on their wedding day. That's pretty humbling.. I don't have one like that. Grrrr now I'm a bit annoyed and jealous and all, feeling a bit sorry for myself and feeling a bit like I didn't think of something really special like that. Ok, well maybe I should just ditch my entire inventory and start from scratch. I would be much lighter and it's always fun to shop, so I'm sure I'd fill up quick enough. Maybe I need to try to make some special picture with someone special that I want to keep forever and ever?? Who would that be?? Moving on.....
3. Not a clue. I haven't bought anything yet tonight. Maybe it was that Diesel works snake prop before my little weekend vacation. Anyway, I might not even buy anything tonight, I'm still sleepy from a big weekend otherwise if I do I'll add it here.
4. My main skin. Also I like to wear the same couple of Dela hair, so guess that is worth mentioning.
5. 13 plus a gesture that is in the trash. (see at some point I actually did put something in the trash) These include things mostly from bachelorette parties such as sippy cup type things, hover bike, cake etc.
1. Ok, inventory loaded,, back to #1.
/me whispers meekly 210,216
Shoot me now.. whatever. Now no one will want to stand next to me for fear of lag and crash .... Thanks
PS... at least I don't shop and spend as much in RL now that I can get a shopping fix in SL.
I will end my blog with a repeat of this video I have blogged about before, since I so love it. No, I didn't make it, but I wish I could take credit for it. It's hilarious to me. Stuff has been disabled for it so I can no longer pull it directly over here to blogger, but please if you want a laugh check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLK-_hWIfWc&list=PL6raEOnEaboND_NCwt_m4LX8SmQQnJztp
And if you just let it run after it's done.. the next one that comes in is super funny too, maybe even funnier...... fodder for many more blog posts really.
Ok,,, ONE MORE PS... I got to talking about that picture the friend said they'd keep, and started wondering a bit more about what ONE THING others would keep. I think this is a question that could stand alone. I'd LOVE to hear what all my SL friends would keep if they could only keep one thing from their inventory. Maybe though that is because I'm nosey.... or as I like to say, curious.
